Reserving
A reservation holds packages of cuts on a cow at the price per pound shown when you reserved. You can change or cancel it until every cut on the cow is spoken for. Then it's locked, because the butcher cuts the whole cow at once.
Paying
You pay for your beef directly, by the real weight of your packages, at your locked prices. On most cows you buy it from the butcher and pay the butcher at pickup. On some, you pay the farm for the beef before pickup and the butcher for cutting and wrapping. Your reservation shows who and how much once the butcher is booked. Meat Reins takes no payment from buyers.
If a cow doesn't fill
Each cow has a fill-by date. If it doesn't fill, we may give it more time or call it off, and then your reservation is cancelled and you owe nothing.
Butchers
Preferred butchers are independent shops, USDA or state inspected. A butcher booked for a cow agrees to the buyers' locked prices and is responsible for cutting, wrapping, food safety and pickup.
